Philadelphia-based artist and writer Suzanne Seesman will share the story and process behind her experimental work in perfume making. To create her scents, Seesman has sourced fresh botanicals from the homes of historically under-recognized women of Philadelphia, kitchen scraps at the Vermont Studio Center, and urban gardens in Philadelphia.
Following Seesman’s talk, Carisa Hund-Bunten of 7th Street gifts will share single-essence botanicals and help you create your own unique blend of fragrance. We’ll apply perfumery techniques of top, middle and base note blending & use “anchoring” scents to form a long lasting foundation that sustains and carries your custom made signature scent.
Participants will have access to apothecary quality droppers, bottles, and carrier oils as well as therapeutic grade absolutes and essential oils to blend, explore, and create. Once your signature scent has been created, apply it as a personal perfume, an all-natural house-linen spray, diffusing oil, bath and body enhancements, etc.
